As announced earlier this month, Beam will execute the hard fork, expected to occur at Block Height 1,920,000 on September 2nd 2022, at around 9 AM, GMT.

Breaking changes

In accordance with the Beam Improvement Proposal (BIP1) as voted on by the Beam community, the $BEAM amount for minting new confidential assets will be adjusted to 10 $BEAM.

Minor changes

  • Improved DApp support in Beam wallet for the Beam Anonymous Naming Service (BANS) application
  • Addition of Shader capabilities to verify fork heights to support fork-dependent features

Timeline

  • Compatible releases of node, the Beam wallet will be versioned 7.1
  • The Node and the Wallets binaries, released on August 9th 2022, are available on Beam’s website and Github. Users can download the latest version of Beam Wallet version 7.1 here.
  • The smartphone version of Beam Wallet 7.1 will launch before the hard fork is completed on September 2nd.

Compatibility

After block height 1,920,000 is reached, wallets earlier than 7.1 will stop working. Users will need to upgrade the wallets to version 7.1 or later to access their funds.
